Yesterday Scott and I went on a bit of an explore of Jamestown. We walked down “the run” which is a stream which runs from the heart shaped waterfall all the way down to the ocean, passing by the hospital, through the center of town, by the police station, the prison and the mule yard before ending at the sea.

We began our explore after a morning dive while we were waiting for our take out for dinner. We entered the run between apartment buildings and followed the little stream all the way to the top of town - about a 25 minute walk. On the way we passed the back of buildings which gave us a new perspective on Jamestown. We walked passed the primary school, under some bridges, passed local mango trees and saw many cats along the way, along with some funky little houses which were all cozy together along the little stream.

While usually town is known for being a somewhat noisy place depending on the time of day, while we were walking it seemed as though all those sounds of cars and chatter were muffled, and the sounds of people living and having dinner were amplified. Through the open windows we could hear mumbled conversations of people cooking, the sounds of laundry machines, children laughing and crying, but all of this was muffled by the little river which swallowed up the sound.

It was a very nice little walk, and showed us a different part of town which we had not experienced before - where it felt more lived in than the rest of Jamestown.
