New Year Update

(March 29, 2024)

Hi everyone,

Its been a while since I did the last blog post, so I thought I would do a bit of a life update :) 

Scott and I spent Christmas in the UK with family and then returned to the island just after the new year. Since then we have both been busy with work, giving the kittens away (who now all have been moved out of our house and into their own new houses), and still doing postbox walks, diving and enjoying our time on St Helena. 

Since I last wrote, there have been many visitors to the island, including yachtys who came from all over the world, some who are part of the yacht race, where they sail from South Africa and come to St Helena as a pit stop before continuing their journey towards Brazil.

We also had family come and visit us for a week which was very fun! Scott’s mom and sister came and stayed with us and we showed them around the island - we went swimming with whale sharks, did some hiking, snorkeling, went searching for masked boobies and did many island driving adventures. 

I have taken many pictures which will not all fit onto this post, but it has been a busy but good past few months, and will add some photos soon - I have posted some photos on my instagram so check them out there too! (@carrot2698)

This weekend is a long weekend as it is Easter, and a tradition on the island is that many people on the Thursday night before Good Friday go out on their boats to fish for their Easter dinner. Last night we went down to the wharf and joined the crowd of people who were watching the young children trying to catch something off the end steps - we hung out and had some food and drinks, it was a lovely time. 

I will do some more in depth updates, and catch up on recent walks we have done, and some of the awesome marine life we have been getting up close and personal with in the coming weeks!
