It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here on St Helena. Decorations are up in the shop windows, and lights are slowly starting to go up on houses across the island.
Even though this time of year in the northern hemisphere means dark and coldness, here on the island it is the beginning of summer. The days have been getting warmer with just a few windy and rainy days in between, and some of our seasonal island visitors have started showing up again - whale sharks!
These photos were from last year when we got the opportunity to swim with them, but these beautiful majestic animals come to the island seasonally during the warmer months to feed on the plankton in our waters. This year there have already been a few sightings from fishermen which is exciting!
This time of year also means more yachts come to the island, usually form Cape Town, but it is always a nice scene to see some new boats in the harbor and talk to people about where they are traveling from and where they are going.
