I went out on the fishing boats yesterday and helped the National Trust with some of their camera drops to help monitor marine species. We left the docks around 7am and headed out towards the north east side of the island, to a spot called George’s island. There were many sea birds there such as the brown booby, the masked booby, the brown and black noddy and the red billed tropic bird. They flew around above our boat as we approached and continued their circling over the ocean searching for fish.

Also the photo in the bottom left is the water view of the spot we hiked to on Sunday!

We put the first cameras in and waited for two hours, and when we went out to collect them for the data, we realized that we had lost the cameras because they had drifted away from their original spot. Because this happened we then drove around searching for the bouys and trying to spot the flag with binoculars. Finally after about an hour we spotted them and went and pulled them out of the water, then put them straight back in at the second location to finish gathering the data.

As we were making our way towards the far side of the island we also came across multiple pods of dolphins which followed and jumped around our boat.
